A source told People magazine: "Ashlee loves John. She thinks he is great for her. More importantly, Jess is happy."Newly-brunette Jessica and John, 29, have been dating for eight months. They confirmed rumors they were an item when they attended Jessica's New Year's Eve party. A source said of the couple, who have just enjoyed a romantic trip to Rome: "John seems very smitten". Jessica's relationship with Nick was highly publicised and the couple starred in their own reality TV show 'Newlyweds'. This time round, Jessica is keeping her love life more private. A source said: "When she was with Nick, she was really under her family's thumb. JESSICA SIMPSON HELPS ORPHANAGE

Jessica Simpson has donated a van to a Mexican orphanage.The actress-and-singer gave the vehicle, which can seat eight people, to the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, which she visited in 1999.The 26-year-old star won a sports car at a swag suite at last year's MTV Video Music Awards but she asked to swap it for a minivan so she could help the orphanage. A Chrysler spokesperson confirmed: "Instead of the Chrysler Crossfire, she decided to get a minivan for the orphanage instead. She went for the Chrysler Town and Country."Mama Lupita - who runs the orphanage - reportedly burst into tears when she heard about the gift, and admitted she'd "love to hug Jessica". The van will be delivered to the orphanage next month. Jessica is also auctioning off the red dress she wears in her new Pizza Hut advert on eBay. All proceeds from the sale will go to Casa Hogar Elim. The source added: "The orphanage means so much to her. She wants to help Mama Lupita and everyone there."

Jessica Simpson wants to adopt.The singer-and-actress wants to have a big family but fears she may not be able to cope with child birth more than once. She told Britain's Star magazine: "I want to adopt before I actually have my own kids. I want three kids - but I don't know if I can give birth three times. I'll have to see how much pain is involved first time round!"Jessica, who split from husband Nick Lachey in November 2005, insists she has also been inspired to adopt by Angelina Jolie - who has two adopted children, Maddox and Zahara.
